10. Vegan Sharp Cheddar Cheese

I love inventing easy to make vegan cheese recipes. This one was not only popular with readers, but it also caught the eye of celebrity Jane Fallon who shared her experience making it on Twitter. Apparently, she makes many of my recipes! It blows my mind to imagine Jane and Ricky Gervais sitting down to enjoy one of my recipes.

9. Vegan Egg Salad Sandwich

This 10-minute recipe has shocked many! I love the 5-star review from reader Sunil who said "This is kind of astounding. I’m trying to eat vegan as much as possible, but still cross the line every now and then. As a result, I can say I have had a “real” egg salad sandwich recently. If someone served this to me, I think I might get fooled. Thanks so much for sharing this!"

8. Easy Vegan Seitan Pepperoni

It always makes me SO happy when I'm able to help satisfy any cravings. One of my favourite 5-star comments was from reader Cindy who said "Made this and your melty mozzarella this morning and had pizza tonight. OMG it was so good! I have missed a good pepperoni pizza and this just made me so happy!"

7. Tofu Scramble Spice Mix

This 5 minute recipe was an instant hit, making breakfast quick and easy! I love what reader Seema said "This is absolutely delicious!!!! I looove your spice mix. It’s now a staple in my spice cupboard. Just made this tofu scramble recipe again tonight (with caramelized onions and tomatoes topped with fresh green onion) and it was 5 stars!!!!"

6.

Are you starting to notice a theme here? For the most part, it seems like my recipes that mimic non-vegan foods are hugely popular! It's a weird talent- to be able to make plants taste like animal products- but I so enjoy making these recipes! These seitan bites taste just like chicken wings. My fave 5-star review was from Christine "I could not wait to try this recipe. I made a double batch, and they turned out perfect…taste, texture…everything…..it was weird….they even smelled like chicken, haha. My dog kept circling the table to get them..."

5. Easy Vegan Lemon Curd

6 ingredients and just 10 minutes to make. I just love when the veganized recipes are easier to make than the traditional recipes!! I was so happy that reader Dawn gave this recipe a 5-star review and said "AMAZING!!! My goodness! This curd is so delicious it fooled my husband. He was shocked to find out this recipe was vegan. It will be a my new standard to go with scones, shortbreads, or cookie filling. Thank you so much for sharing it with us."

4. Banana Peel Bacon

I think I startled people a little with this recipe. Some people loved it, while others hated the idea and gave it bad reviews without even tasting it. Cranky! Haha. Either way, this recipe was a hit with many including Melissa who gave this recipe 5 stars and said "Delicious! My whole family loved it. I think it is my favorite vegan bacon. Better than bacon made with eggplant, tofu or tempeh. And banana peels are basically free! Amazing..."

3. Easy Vegan Mushroom Stroganoff

When all else fails, make pasta. This 25 minute stroganoff makes dinner easy. Reader Nicki agreed with her 5-star review saying "As a working mom, I really appreciate an easy delicious weeknight meal! I made it as the recipe was written and will definitely make this again. Thank you!!'

2. Vegan Seitan Tenders (vegan chicken)

And just when we thought we had moved on, it's back to vegan meat alternatives- and I love it!!! A lot of people are intimidated by seitan recipes, but once you give this recipe a try you will soon find out how easy it actually is. Just like reader Britton discovered with her 5-star review "I have never had much luck making seitan, so I didn’t have much hope for this recipe. I even had a backup dinner planned for when I inevitably failed at these tenders. I was so surprised at how easy the recipe was and how delicious these were! The texture and flavor was perfect. I pan fried them as suggested, with vegan butter and parsley/salt/pepper, and then served with roasted asparagus and potato wedges. I will definitely be making these again and again!"

1. 12 Seitan or Tofu Marinades

Drum roll, please! The most popular recipe of the year is actually a post containing 12 recipes. You can use these marinades on my seitan tender recipe or any kind of tofu to instantly take them up a notch. Kim agreed with her 5-star review "These marinades are the BOMB! I’ve tried 4 already. Sweet chili, Sweet and Smoky, Teriyaki, and Thai Peanut. My favorite is the Sweet and Smoky because it’s great to make tofu bacon! Great for a TLT breakfast sandwich! Thank you Sam for making vegan so easy and flavorful!"

I love the variety in flavours and textures of your recipes. My request would be for more gluten-free recipes. The seitan ones all look so wonderful, but as my daughter is celiac, they don’t work for us. It is so hard to find gluten-free options out there. Tofu, jackfruit, and beyond beef gets a bit boring after awhile.

Noted! I'm also making a point to add (if possible) gluten-free and oil-free options in the notes of the recipes now. 🙂

I used the lemon curd for my 8year olds lemon cake she requested for her birthday! Delicious and amazing stirred into soya yoghurt. Also the tofu scramble mix is the way I got her to first eat any tofu. Thank you!! Keep up the good work.
