Description[]

Klaris Llfiend, Mother of Lights, is a Black Diver found at the end of Castle Light. She is in charge of the expeditions to and from The Eternal Gale.

She is a young Canor, who sports curly bangs that end onto her shoulders. Her pupils are much more pale as well as having unique facial markings down to her cheeks , and a floating orb that resembles the Moonseye, as a result of being the inventor of Radiant Magic. She wears the standard coat of the Black Divers.

Of the Divers, she is considered one of the strongest, surpassing Chaser^[1] and being on par with Akira to the point that he cannot instantly kill her with his Resonance, as well as being able to become intangible.

She is rather rude at times, frequently insulting those she views as weak, and is generally disliked by her fellow Divers.^[2] She also appears rather arrogant, as she banished Cap'n Orlandeau to New Kyrsa, for disagreeing with her and how she reacts to players under power 15 talking to her.^[3]

We lost an expedition team heading into the Second Layer. We sent one of our Black Divers, Chaser, down with about 20 experienced Divers. Something seems to have gone wrong down there - it's not normal for him to not report back. We had reports from our scouts that Murmurs of the Song were coming from a passage within one of the Ethironal Sanctuaries. We think this might have clues to the resting place of Ethiron.							Skip the honorifics and call me Klaris. I run things around here, and I guess you could say I'm credited with the discovery of the Radiant Tones, among other things.					Alright. Bring 4 of you tops, we can't get any more down there right now. Stand in the circle with your team, and good luck out there.	She sighs. I knew sending him down there was a mistake. But for him to turn on us like this…		Ugh. How typical of them. They must have found some kind of grift down there. I'll tell the others to be wary of them on any expeditions. Still, I find it disturbing that they managed to establish a base there before us... We can't afford to underestimate those opportunists. I had heard the stories about the City under the Gale, but I never imagined anything concrete would be produced. You could buy an entire Kingdom with those Medallions... if anyone knew that City existed, that is. Fortunately you may still be rewarded for your haul, how about you sell them to me?

We can't afford to keep sending more Divers down, we're thin on our numbers as it is. If you and a team are willing to go, I will bless you with a 'Light Hook' so you can make your way down. Also, if you can retrieve any of the Diver's we sent down we would really appreciate it.					The Drowned God of the Eternal Gale. The one responsible for not only the harsh conditions of the Second Layer, but also possibly the key we need to further understand the Depths itself.		The Radiant Tones are a Verse of the Song that can reproduce Light. According to our research, we believe Lightkeepers have used it latently for centuries to Illuminate pathways through the Voidsea, but I found a way to reproduce the Verse and wield it against the Depths itself.						Black Divers are all driven by their ideals. For Akira and I, it's a desire to learn all we can about this place. For Chaser... It's clear he wants the spoils of whatever's down there all for himself. He's already got what he wanted from us, I suppose.				Klaris gives you a puzzled expression, seeming momentarily like she might dismiss your question, but conceding. * She is... preoccupied. Lightkeepers do not get a great deal of rest, and what time she had spare she often spent writing. The Light Hook is a special technique of the Radiant Tones. It will allow me to pull you back up from below should you suffer fatal injuries while it's active. Beware, as it will only last a maximum of 20 minutes once you enter the Layer. Less if you've used it recently. If you suffer fatal wounds after that time runs out... I'm afraid you'll have to take fate into your own hands, as no Light Hook will save you then.		By the looks of it, you're the best bet around here for someone who might actually live to tell the tale, and explain what happened down there. The Apprentices on the First Layer are simply not experienced enough, as made evident by our recent losses... I have hope for you. If you're willing, the 'Light Hook' is ready. Evidently not through some specific will or agenda, but as if we were interacting on a microscopic level with the processes of some slumbering creature. There is a typo when returning the Diver Journals to her; she says 'this is the least can offer,' it should say 'this is the least WE can offer.'
You don't have to beat Chaser after you unlock the Galewax shrine for it to count to the Deepshore Fossil quest.
She is the inventor of Radiant Magic.
Her name, Klaris Llfiend, has a resemblance to the Drowned God of Layer 3's name: Korilfiend- though, Arch_Mage stated there is no relation.
Despite her appearance, she's actually a Canor without eyeliner. ^[4]

The name Klaris is likely derived from the French name Claris, which fittingly means "bright" or "clear."
Despite her more supportive role and her abilities coming in the form of magic rather than martial arts, Klaris is still rather muscular.^[5]
