Grain-free Homemade Carrot and Banana Dog Cookie Recipe (1)

Baking your own dog cookies doesn't have to be difficult or expensive, you can easily provide healthy and cost effective alternatives to store bought treats to your dogs with ease.

K9 Instinct strives to create easy to make homemade dog cookie recipes that are healthy, nutritious and beneficial. Treats don't have to be junk food, they can be delicious and good for your canine family members!

This recipe uses grain-free coconut flour which contains medium chain fatty acids and is perfect for skin and coat health, promoting a thick and glossy coat. The raw grated carrots provide vitamins and beta-carotene which can improve coat pigment and are rich in anti-oxidants. The banana is high in potassium and tryptophan (converted into serotonin to alleviate depression and stress), and they also stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut while being a general aid for digestion. Eggs provide healthy, clean protein and will also improve coat condition!

Maria: Since there is no sugar or other concentrated sweeteners in this recipe, it should be fine for a dog with diabetes.

If you live in New England, Ocean State Job Lot carries a large line of Bob's Red Mill products at a really good price, lower than you can get most anywhere else.. I got brown rice flour there to make my dog some wheat free peanut butter cookies.. in fact they smelled so good, my grandkids thought they were regular cookies and stole 3 of them... when I asked where they went, that they were dog cookies, they said "Oh, that's why they were so crunchy and not sweet- but they were pretty good anyway" LOL.

These sound as though they would be perfect for an EPI dog, in very small quantities. EPI dogs have to have enzymes sprinkled on their food, and it must be incubated, so the 350° oven would kill the enzymes.

What would the fat content be of these cookies? My dog has a case of suspected pancreatitis - His numbers were elevated but not high enough to conclude pancreatitis - So we are changing around his diet to include low-fat treats and diet. I am having a hard time finding nutritious low-fat but yum treats.

If the fat content can't be determined, what alternative ingredients would I be able to use to cut the fat down??

I made these treats last night and they are crumbly. I know that is because of the flour as we are gluten free family. With that said, is there a way to make the dough easier to roll out for cutting? Need something to soften the dough and easier to work with. I have more to cut or I also tried cooling the dough and that helped a little.

From my gluten-free baking experiences for Humans. It has true the gluten-free flour products van be mealy and crumbly, THERES A FIX FOR THAT!! When u mix your dry ingredients with the fat and or liquids, it takes longer for gluten free flours to absorb the needed fats to meld together and make a more satisfying cookie, pie crust(anything rolled out or shaped. All u need to do is let your dough sit covered in the fridge (longer the better. I do overnight) before rolling or shaping. Hope this helps

You can use either chia seeds or flax seeds left in water to form a frogsp*rn like substance lol... really... the chia is faster maybe only 10 mins depending on temperature.. its hot here...flax seed you leave for a few hours and it will bind the same way an egg does. Its used in many vegan cakes as a substitute.

Don't know what I did wrong with this recipe. All the others I've tried turned out great. This was not thick enough to roll the dough out. I added extra oat fiber flour, and still would not thicken to the point of being able to roll out and use a cookie cutter. So, I'm now trying to bake them as a cookie. So will see how that goes. They smell so good!!

I just want to say Thank You to everyone who supported me through the years. My name is Manuel Franco, New Berlin, Wisconsin. My story of how I won the Powerball lottery of $768.4M is a bit of a tale. I have been playing Powerball tickets for 6 years now since I turned 18. I bought my first ticket on my 18 birthday. I was feeling very lucky that day because I had contacted Dr. Odunga Michael to help me with the winning Powerball numbers. I really had that great great feeling that I looked at the camera wanting to wink at it. I only did a tiny part of it and trusted him. He gave me the numbers after I played a couple other tickets along with it for $10. I checked my ticket after the winnings came online and saw the numbers were correct including the Power play. I screamed for about 10 minutes because it felt like a dream. I had won $768.4M. You can check my winning testimony with the lottery officials just with my name search. Thank you Dr Odunga.
